Ill impregnate the bitchTyrion Lannister to Daenerys TargaryensrcThe Siege of Casterly Rock is an engagement in Daenerys Targaryens invasion of Westeros in which the Unsullied army of House Targaryen attacked Casterly Rock, the seat of House Lannister, who traditionally rule the Westerlands. Casterly Rock had never fallen before, with the exception of the legend of Lann the Clever, who was said to have swindled House Casterly of their stronghold in the Age of Heroes. The Lannisters claim to be descendants of Lann the Clever. Thus, as long as House Lannister has held Casterly Rock, which has been for thousands of years, it has never fallen. Tyrion Lannister, Hand of the Queen to Daenerys Targaryen, sought to take the castle from Cersei Lannister, using the sewage system of which Tyrion knew through experience to sneak into the castle, as a heavy blow to the Lannister army and morale. Tyrion and the Unsullied expected a large force to be holding Casterly Rock given that it is the home of House Lannister. However, Jaime Lannister actually used Casterly Rock as a distraction, and instead marched the Lannister army south to the Reach while the Iron Fleet destroyed the Targaryen fleet that had brought the Unsullied, trapping them into the Westerlands. Prelude Before becoming the royal family, House Lannister ruled the Westerlands from their stronghold of Casterly Rock. When Robert Baratheon took the Iron Throne after his rebellion against House Targaryen and House Baratheon became the new royal family, he was wed to Cersei Lannister. After Roberts death, Cersei saw that Joffrey Baratheon took the throne though Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen Baratheon were said to be Roberts children, they were actually bastards born of incest between Cersei and Jaime Lannister. The revelation of this led to a major civil war, the War of the Five Kings, and House Baratheon was divided among three branches. Ultimately, House Baratheon of Kings Landing held onto the crown, though they were nothing more than a puppet of House Lannister, which had been the true power in the Seven Kingdoms. However, after the destruction of the Great Sept of Baelor, the Baratheons went extinct, and Cersei Lannister seized the Iron Throne, thus bringing the Lannisters to full power. Nonetheless, Cerseis destruction of the Great Sept of Baelor united her many enemies to fight alongside Daenerys Targaryen, who sought to restore her family to the Iron Throne. Tyrion Lannister, Cersei and Jaimes younger brother, also served Daenerys as her Hand and intended to remove his family from power. To this end, he developed a strategy to take Casterly Rock using the elite Unsullied army, commanded by Grey Worm, that Daenerys brought over from Essos, which would cut off the Lannisters from their stronghold and would also deal a heavy blow against the Lannister morale given that Casterly Rock is their traditional seat of power. Tyrion expected a large force to be holding Casterly Rock because of this the castle had also never fallen before. Cersei, however, gained an ally in Euron Greyjoy, the new King of the Iron Islands. The Iron Islands are part of the Seven Kingdoms, though have sought independence from the Iron Throne since the War of the Five Kings broke out. Euron originally intended to form a pact with Daenerys but was beaten by his niece and nephew, Yara and Theon Greyjoy, who opposed Euron after he murdered their father and the preceding king, Balon Greyjoy, and sought to place Yara on the Salt Throne. The location of Eurons fleet, however, remained unknown to the Targaryens. The battle The Unsullied breach Casterly Rock. Transported by a large portion of the Targaryen fleet, the Unsullied army of House Targaryen landed at Casterly Rock, where they attempted to climb over the battlements with ladders. The Lannister garrison had anticipated the attack, and fiercely defended the walls firing arrows and throwing large stones. The Unsullied initially sustained modest casualties and could not seem to breach the walls. However, Grey Worm led a small force of Unsullied through the sewers beneath the Rock provided by Tyrion Lannister, who installed a route that he would use to sneak in with prostitutes. Once inside the castle, Grey Worm and his force opened the gates, allowing the rest of the Unsullied army to pour in. Following fierce fighting, the Lannister men were ultimately overpowered. Aftermath Euron Greyjoy attacks the Targaryen fleet. After the fighting had finished and the Lannister garrison had been destroyed, Grey Worm quickly deduced that the a large part of the Lannister army was mysteriously absent from the assault. He looks over the battlements to see Euron Greyjoy and the Iron Fleet destroying their ships. Out of anger, Grey Worm grabs a dying Lannister soldier and asks where the rest of the Lannisters are. As it turns out Jamie had marched the Lannister host to take Highgarden. After taking the castle he later comments to Olenna that the Unsullied would be unable to hold Casterly Rock as he had emptied all the larders and would starve unless they left, and with their fleet burned by Euron they would have no choice but to march cross country through a hostile Westeros. Ultimately, however, Jaimes strategy, while ingenious, backfires. Eurons presence on the western coast of the continent allowed Daenerys to land her Dothraki khalasar on the eastern coast without interference, and her victory at the Goldroad shattered the LannisterTarly force, thus allowing the Unsullied to march across Westeros unhindered. Some time later, Greyworm appears infront of Kings Landing with the surviving Unsullied, leaving Casterly Rock behind. In the books In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels by George R. R. Martin, an equivalent battle has not occurred. The TV show has surpassed the timeline of the books, so it is unclear if an equivalent battle will occur or not. Storms End A Wiki of Ice and Fire. Elenei protects Durran as Storms End is constructed. Art by Roman Papsuev. Storms End is the seat of House Baratheon, the Lords Paramount of the Stormlands. The castle is located at Durrans Point on the northern coast of Shipbreaker Bay,1 south of Bronzegate and northeast of Griffins Roost. The kingsroad runs north from Storms End through the stormlands to Kings Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms. One of the strongest castles in the realm, Storms End was once the ancestral seat of the Storm Kings of House Durrandon extending back many thousands of years. The castle is said to be protected by spells woven into its very walls that prevent magic from affecting it or passing through it. Renly Baratheon, Lord of Storms End, is served by Maester Jurne. Layout. See also Images of Storms End. Storms End is surrounded by a massive outer curtain wall, one hundred feet high and forty feet thick on its thinnest side and nearly eighty feet thick on its seaward side. It is composed of a double course of pale grey stone with an inner core of sand and rubble. The wall is smooth and curving, the stones so well placed and so perfectly together that the wind can find no purchase. On the seaward side, there is a one hundred fifty foot drop below the wall into the sea. There is no safe anchorage by the castle. The curtain wall protects the castles kitchens, stables, and yard. Storms End has only one tower, a colossal drum crowned with formidable battlements, so that from a distance enemies can see what appears to be a single huge, spiked fist thrusting towards the sky in defiance. The tower is so large that it comfortably contains the granary, barracks, armory, feast hall, and lords chambers all at once. It is said that there are spells woven into the stonework. The seaward side of the castle stands upon Durrans Point, a high white cliff overlooking the sea. There is a watery passage through a cavern that leads beneath the castle, protected by a portcullis, bars, and murder holes. The godswood of Storms End has a weirwoodheart tree carved with a solemn face. Despite a good wind off Shipbreaker Bay, the weather is hot at Storms End in summertime. There are fields and stony ridges in the vicinity. History. Origin. The mighty fortress called Storms End has stood for centuries, facing the terrible weather of Shipbreaker Bay with little wear to show for it. Legend claims that it was built by Durran, the first Storm King during the Dawn Age, who declared a war against the gods after they killed his family and guests, ruining his wedding to their daughter Elenei. It was said Durran Godsgrief raised six castles, each larger and more formidable than the last, but all were destroyed by storms. The massive seventh castle, Storms End, is also called Durrans Defiance9 because it was able to endure the storms. Some believe this was because the children of the forest took a hand in its construction, using their magics in raising the castle walls which allow it to resist the storms. Others believe that a young boy who grew up to be Bran the Builder advised Durran on its construction. House Durrandon. The Storm Kings, Durrans descendents from House Durrandon, used Storms End as their seat as they consolidated control over the stormlands. In its long history the formidable fortress has never fallen to siege or storm. During their invasion of Westeros, the Andals are said to have abandoned attempts to capture Storms End from the First Men Storm Kings after seven failed sieges and assaults. Instead, the Durrandons and Andals eventually came together through marriage. Archmaester Vyron speculates in his Triumphs and Defeats that the final form of the castle being the seventh shows a clear Andal influence and suggests the possibility that the final form was achieved in Andal times. The great tower and curtain wall appear beyond the capability of the ancient First Men, at least, as they often built ringforts which are now left in ruins. Gyles III Gardener, King of the Reach, failed to conquer Storms End after a siege of two years. During Aegons Conquest, the last Storm King, Argilac the Arrogant, abandoned his impressive defenses to meet Orys Baratheon in open battle and suffered accordingly in the Last Storm. Taking Argilacs daughter, Argella, as his bride, Orys became Aegons Lord Paramount of the Stormlands and House Baratheon replaced the Durrandons as lords of Storms End. House Baratheon. Prince Lucerys Velaryon and his dragon, Arrax, were slain by Prince Aemond Targaryen and Vhagar outside Storms End during the Dance of the Dragons. King Baelor I Targaryen recuperated at Storms End for half a year after he returned from Dorne. Princess Rhaelle Targaryen served at Storms End as Lord Lyonel Baratheons cupbearer and companion to his lady wife,1. Lyonels heir, Lord Ormund Baratheon. The Windproud of Lord Steffon Baratheon sank in Shipbreaker Bay within sight of Storms End. The castellan at that time was Ser Harbert, while the castles maester was Cressen. There was a tourney at Storms End prior to Roberts Rebellion. During the rebellion, Lord Robert Baratheon feasted and hunted with Lords Cafferen and Grandison at Storms End after defeating them at Summerhall. Storms End was then besieged for near a year by the host of Lord Mace Tyrell, who commanded the landward forces, whilst Lord Paxter Redwynes fleet of the Arbor kept the castle cut off by sea. However, Stannis Baratheon, Roberts brother in command of the defense, refused to yield and his men were reduced to eating rats. The armorer Donal Noye lost an arm during the siege. A smuggler named Davos ran the blockade and resupplied the castle, allowing the garrison to outlast the siege of Storms End. After Lord Robert Baratheon became king, he gave the castle to his youngest brother, Renly, and granted Stannis the much poorer Dragonstone, which led to many years of bitterness on Stanniss part. Ser Loras Tyrell squired at Storms End, where he became acquainted with Renly. When Renly is away at court in Kings Landing fulfilling his duties as Roberts master of laws, Storms End is held by its castellan, Ser Cortnay Penrose. Roberts bastard, Edric Storm, is fostered by Cortnay at the castle. Recent Events. A Game of Thrones. Renly Baratheon, Lord of Storms End, flees Kings Landing with Ser Loras Tyrell after the death of his brother, King Robert I Baratheon. Lord Varys, the master of whisperers, thinks Renly is riding to Storms End or Highgarden in the Reach. Renly weds Margaery Tyrell at Highgarden and is proclaimed Lord of the Seven Kingdoms by Lord Mace Tyrell. Storms End calls the banners for Renly. Download X264 Mac. A Clash of Kings. During the War of the Five Kings, the many castles sworn to Storms End help Renly field a sizable force to support his claim on the Iron Throne. His elder brother, Stannis, lays siege to Storms End instead of attacking Kings Landing. Stanniss men cut down a nearby grove of trees for siege weapons, and it is where the rival kings hold an unsuccessful parley. The night before the brothers are to battle, Catelyn Stark prays at the sept of a village located in sparse woodland near the castle. Despite the presence of his Rainbow Guard, Renly is assassinated in his camp by a shadow that night.
